Working Structures
The Creative Unit “Homo debilis” plans to expand and further develop its research network in order to establish an international, interdisciplinary centre for a Dis/ability History of pre-modern societies at the University of Bremen. In doing so continuous scientific exchange with guests, fellows and young academics is an essential feature of our work, which enables us to discuss methodological problems, to include different perspectives and historical periods, and to continually work and reflect on our central questions.
Therefore, we organise international workshops at regular intervals of three or four months each year. Each workshop is dedicated to a specific research perspective. Continuous exchange is furthermore ensured by a jour fixe which is to be held every month at the University of Bremen. For 2016, an international, interdisciplinary conference is planned.
Our research is closely linked to the teaching at the University of Bremen, therefore we would like for students to feel invited to join us at our various meetings and to take part in our activities. Members of the interested public are also very welcome to take part in our discussions and to follow our research.
In December 2013 the Creative Unit was accepted as Study Group (http://www.h-w-k.de/study-groups.html) by the Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg Delmenhorst. Institute for Advanced Study (Duration: 01.12.2013 – 30.11.2016).
